Our Approach: Building Healthier Communities
At RHCP, sustainable healthcare for refugees goes beyond clinics. Our approach combines medical care, education, and community empowerment — designed with and for the communities we serve — to build resilient healthcare systems where refugees don’t just survive, but thrive with dignity and hope.
RHCP Core Programmes & Areas of Focus
Eight interconnected programmes anchor RHCP’s model — from primary care and reproductive health to advocacy and emergency response — each designed to meet refugees where they are.
Comprehensive Primary Healthcare
Community-based and mobile clinics providing general medical consultations, chronic disease management, emergency care and wound management, with referral for specialized care via partner hospitals.
Sexual & Reproductive Health Services (SRHS)
Family planning and reproductive health counseling, prevention, testing and treatment of STIs and HIV, prenatal, antenatal and postnatal care, and menstrual health education and supply distribution.
Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MHPSS)
Trauma healing and confidential counseling services, psychological first aid and peer support groups, and stress management workshops for survivors of displacement.
Advocacy & Rights Promotion
Championing inclusive health policies and rights for refugees, engagement with policymakers, local authorities and global partners, and legal awareness and patient protection workshops.
Health Education & Community Awareness
Campaigns on hygiene, sanitation, nutrition and disease prevention, dissemination of IEC materials in local languages, and school and youth health outreach.
Empowerment & Healthcare Training
Capacity-building for refugee health workers, CHWs and peer educators, leadership and skills training for women and youth, and MHPSS and child safeguarding workshops.
Emergency & Humanitarian Response
Rapid response to disease outbreaks and emergencies, medical supply distribution and field outreach, and preparedness and resilience training for communities.
Referral & Specialized Care
Coordination of referrals to advanced care facilities, with post-treatment follow-up and patient advocacy.
Primary Healthcare
Comprehensive Primary Healthcare
Our comprehensive primary healthcare program brings essential medical services directly to refugee settlements and host communities through mobile clinics and community-based delivery, so no one is left behind in accessing basic medical care.
We provide specialized care for chronic conditions such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, diabetes and hypertension, and maintain strong partnerships with hospitals for emergency referrals and seamless care transitions.
Reproductive & Maternal Health
Sexual & Reproductive Health Services
We provide confidential family planning counseling and contraceptive services, respecting diverse backgrounds and beliefs, alongside comprehensive maternal health support through pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period.
Our sexual health services include STI testing, treatment and HIV prevention, and our menstrual health program provides education and essential supplies to maintain dignity and health for women and girls.
Mental Health
Mental Health & Psychosocial Support
Our trauma-informed approach recognizes the complex psychological impacts of displacement, conflict and loss, offering individual and group counseling in a safe, culturally sensitive environment.
We train community members and healthcare workers in psychological first aid, run peer support groups where refugees can heal together, and teach practical stress management techniques that build resilience.
Health Education
Health Education & Community Awareness
Our health education campaigns address hygiene, sanitation, nutrition and disease prevention, and we develop culturally appropriate materials in local languages so vital information reaches every community member regardless of literacy level.
Youth-focused programs reach children and adolescents in schools and community centers, while community dialogue sessions create safe spaces to discuss health topics and bridge traditional and modern practice.
Community Empowerment
Empowerment & Healthcare Training
We train refugees as Community Health Workers (CHWs) and peer educators, equipping them as health advocates and first-line healthcare providers, and invest in women’s leadership so they can drive change in health outcomes and community development.
Young refugees receive healthcare training, leadership skills and child safeguarding education, building a generation of change agents for health and development in their communities.
Emergency Response
Emergency & Humanitarian Response
Our rapid response team identifies, contains and manages disease outbreaks in refugee settlements, working closely with health authorities to prevent widespread transmission.
We maintain strategic reserves of essential medical supplies for rapid deployment, train communities in emergency preparedness, and work within the humanitarian coordination framework to maximize impact during crises.
Referral Care
Referral & Specialized Care
We coordinate referrals to specialized medical facilities for conditions that require advanced care beyond our primary healthcare services, drawing on an extensive network of partner hospitals for quality treatment.
Our patient navigation services help refugees through complex healthcare systems, with language interpretation and advocacy throughout treatment, and comprehensive follow-up ensures continuity of care after specialized treatment.
Advocacy
Advocacy & Rights Promotion
We work with government officials, policymakers and international organizations to advocate for inclusive health policies that recognize and protect the rights of refugees and vulnerable communities.
Our legal awareness programs empower refugees with knowledge of their rights, while community mobilization and international partnerships amplify refugee voices in decision-making and on global platforms.
Educational Outreach

We design educational programs based on community needs assessments and cultural considerations, using interactive workshops, peer learning and hands-on demonstrations to ensure knowledge retention and practical application.
Materials and sessions are provided in multiple languages for accessibility, and we train local leaders to sustain ongoing education programs that continue to benefit communities long-term.
